Conference at the CERI: The EU in quest of legitimacy" - 9
th February 2010
On 9th February the Robert Schuman Foundation and the CERI are organising a seminar entitled "The EU in quest of political legitimacy: towards new common ground?" This seminar which is open to the public aims to add positively to the debate on finding new common ground for the EU. The theme of the third meeting in this series of seminars focuses on the theme "The problem of designating the Union: how should the EU be embodied as a political and legal entity." The session will take place with Olivier Beaud, Professor in Public Law at the University of Paris II - Panthéon Assas. Nicolas Jabko, researcher at the CERI-Sciences Po, will be the co-host.

60th Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration - Grand CVCE Competition - 8
th February 2010
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the declaration in which Robert Schuman set the foundations for the construction of Europe on 9th May 1950 the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l'Europe (CVCE) is organising a competition open to all classes in the secondary and technical sections, both public and private in Luxembourg, Poland and France. It is free to take part. To enter the competition a teacher has to fill in an on-line form between 8th February and 23rd April.

Seminar on the Middle East - 28th - 29

The Robert Schuman Foundation and the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces Committee at the Senate are organising a seminar on Thursday 28th January and Friday 29th January 2010 at the Senate on the theme of “Going Nuclear in the Middle East – In search of a European Middle East Policy?”.

Presentation of the book "France, America and the World : a new era in Franco-American Relations?" -
21st January 2010
One year after Barack Obama took office as president of the USA, the Robert Schuman Foundation organised the presentation of a book "La France, l'Amérique et le Monde: une nouvelle ère dans les relations franco-américaines?" (France, America and the World: a new Era in Franco-American Relations?) on 21st January at the Centre d'Accueil de la Presse Etrangère (CAPE) - this is a joint edition with the Center for Transatlantic Relations and the Robert Schuman Foundation. Michel Foucher, co-manager of the work and member of the Foundation's scientific council and Jean-Dominique Giuliani hosted the debate.

The European Union and its quest for Legitimacy - 13
th January 2010
The Robert Schuman Foundation and the CERI are organising a seminar on 13th January entitled "The European Union and its quest for political legitimacy - the development of a joint discourse?" This seminar, which is open to the public aims to provide information about the possibility of a new joint discourse on the European Union. The theme of the second part of this seminar will focus on the following theme "Dess(e)ins européens: les territoires et leur récits" (European Plans: territories and their discourse). The meeting will take place with Michel Foucher, professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Ulm) on 13th January from 12pm to 14pm at the CERI, 56 rue Jacob, 75006 Paris in the conference room (Ground Floor). Jacques Rupnik, researcher at the CERI - Sciences Po will be speaking.
