In a letter published on 16th November in the Financial Times three eminent women, Neelie Kroes, European Competition Commissioner, Margot Wallström, Vice-President of the European Commission and Diana Wallis, Vice-President of the European Parliament are asking the European leaders to appoint a woman to take the post of president or head of EU diplomacy during their extraordinary European Council on 19th November. "There are plenty of names" to occupy these posts they say "the right person for the post is often a woman. Appointing women would make Europe wealthier and more representative and would bring citizens closer together," they stressed.
