In 2012 women still earn 16.4% less than men!
5th March 2012On 2nd March on the occasion of wage equality the European Commission published figures that show that women's wages are still lower than those earned by men in Europe. The wage gap still lies at 16.4% with variations depending on the country (2% in Poland, 27% in Estonia). The principle of equal pay for the same work is however part of the treaties. "It is high time that this principle is applied everywhere" declared Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission for Justice.
