The British Prime Minister on an official visit to Washington
19th March 2012During a joint press conference on 14th March in Washington American President, Barack Obama and British Prime Minister, David Cameron recalled the close links that bind their two countries in a "special relationship". The British Prime Minister stressed the importance of action taken by both countries in Afghanistan against terrorism; he mentioned the withdrawal of troops in 2014 and future aid that will be given to support the new government in power. With regard to Syria the two men declared they wanted to continue providing humanitarianl aid. Then they announced the upkeep of political and economic pressure on Iran with regard to its nuclear programme. Finally in terms of economic growth they highlighted the need to stimulate investment and trade relations between the two countries.
