Unemployment continues to rise in Europe and the social situation is still a source of concern
2nd April 2012According to a quarterly review on Employment and the Social Situation in the EU published by the Commission on 29th March the number of unemployed people in the EU rose again in 2011. Men are most affected, which brought the unemployment rate of both sexes to equality at around 10.1% in January 2012. Differences between the Member States are still significant and the Commission is planning to introduce "a package for employment" the aim of which will be to pinpoint priorities for the reform of the labour market and for the creation of jobs. The idea will also be to determine how European funds can be effectively invested into the Union's "human capital".
