European States desert Yalta
7th May 2012In the wake of the Tymoshenko affair and the most recent information concerning the maltreatment she has suffered in prison, eight head of State out of twenty invited to the Yalta Summit on 11th and 12th May have informed the Ukrainian government that they no longer wish to attend. Indeed on 26th April German President Joachim Gauck, cancelled his journey saying that he was concerned by the Ukrainian opponent's state of health. Czech President, Vaclav Klaus also cancelled his trip on 30th April followed by the Slovenian, Austrian, Italian and Estonian heads of State. Croatian Head of State Ivo Josipovic, for this part, cancelled on 3rd May. On 4th May Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev followed his counterparts.
