Spain and France agree on the future of Europe
29th May 2012French President François Hollande received the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, on 23rd May. At the press conference the Spanish head of government again made a commitment to reduce his country's deficit. In his opinion, Europe needs a reflation policy which requires the implementation of a growth pact. In this respect he hopes that a text will be proposed by June. In conclusion, Mariano Rajoy reminded the press conference that Europe's main objective is to strengthen the euro, putting the accent on economic, financial and political integration. The French President insisted on the challenge of liquidities and on the need for "having a strong banking system". His words were shared by Mariano Rajoy who explained that what is urgent for Spain is the "need for finance, liquidity and sustainability".
