"Impressionism: sensation and inspiration"
18th June 2012The Hermitage Museum of Amsterdam is holding an exhibition, "Impressionism: feeling and inspiration" until 13th January 2013. Work by pioneers of the movement like Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Alfred Sisley are on show to the public alongside other influential French artists of the second half of the 19th century, Eugène Delacroix and Jean-Léon Gérôme. Amongst the paintings on show there are notably the "Woman in the Garden" by Monet and "Woman with Fruit" by Gauguin. These paintings that are part of collections from the national museum, the Hermitage in Saint-Petersburg, highlight the contrasts between the different artistic trends of time.
