General Affairs and External RelationsOn 27th July the 27 Foreign Ministers called on the Commission to issue an opinion on the request for EU membership on the part of Iceland. They adopted a joint position to enlarge the scope of restrictive measures against North Korea and joint action to extend the EU's observation mission in Georgia until 14th September 2010. In addition to this they adopted a regulation imposing restrictions on the trade of products derivated from seal fur and approved new rules relative to the coordination of social security systems. They finally decided to enhance Europe's involvement in the support of peace and development; they also discussed the situation in Iran after the presidential election.
