Kosovo

Council

French General Xavier Bout de Marnhac is the new director of the Police and Justice Mission in Kosovo (Eulex). The decision was taken on 27th July by the EU’s Policy and Security Committee on a recommendation made by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and the Security Policy, Catherine Ashton. Eulex which can total up to 3,000 people aims to establish the rule of law in Kosovo and supervise the Kosovar police, customs and legal systems. Mr de Marnhac, who succeeds another French General, Yves de Kermabon was commander of Kfor (NATO’s mission in Kosovo) from 2007 to 2008.
