Unemployment

The Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) announced on 30th July that the unemployment rate in the second semester had reached 20.09% continuing to rise after 20.05% recorded in the first semester. Since the second semester of 2007 when it rose to an historic high of 7.95% the Spanish unemployment rate has increased constantly. Since last April it has risen beyond the symbolic 20% mark.
