On the occasion of a seminar on "The freedom of the press and media regulation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe" organised on 30th and 31st May in partnership with the Council of Europe and the Robert Schuman Foundation, independent journalist and specialist of the country's of Central and Eastern Europe, Horia-Victor Lefter has published a study for the Foundation on developments of the freedom of the press in these countries since the end of the Soviet era. It offers an overview of the situation, analysing progress and continued impediments in comparison with Western standards.
