As part of a series of conferences on "The crisis and the EU candidate countries" organized by the French Institute in Skopje with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation, a debate "Consequences of the debt crisis on Europe and the euro," took place on 18th April in Skopje (Republic of Macedonia). Alain Fabre, an expert working for the Foundation, economist and business financial advisor, spoke at this debate.
The crisis and enlargement into the Balkans

On 1st March 2013, the French Institute of Skopje, with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation, organised a series of conferences in Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) on "The crisis and the candidate countries for EU membership". The first conference entitled "Why has there been a crisis?" took place on March 1st. Frank Lirzin, an expert working for the Foundation and an economist specialised in monetary policy issues, the European economy and macro-finance, took part in the debate alongside some Macedonian political leaders.
Relations between the EU and Ukraine

On 25th October 2011 the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, took part in a conference in Kyiv (Ukraine) organised by the National Civil Service Academy on "Relations between the European Union and Ukraine." He spoke on the future of relations between the EU and Ukraine. Mr Jacques Barrot, former Minister, member of the Foundation`s administrative board, member of the Constitutional Council and former Vice President of the European Commission, spoke on the theme of "Rule of Law, Democracy, Freedom and Justice, the Intangible Values of the European Union".
The European integration of the Western Balkans

The Robert Schuman Foundation, together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the CEDEM, organised a conference in Montenegro on 29th and 30th September 2011 on the European integration of the Western Balkans. Jérôme Chartier MP, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chair of the Robert Schuman Foundation, as well as Gaëlle Pério, journalist and specialist in the Balkans spoke during the debates over the issues at stake in terms of this integration.
