The impact of the coronavirus on European citizens in the UK

10/06/2020
The COVID-19 crisis has changed the discourse on migration in the European Union. Workers previously considered "low-skilled" represent the personnel who ensured the operation of essential services during this period. In an effort to identify some of the issues that European citizens living in another Member State have faced during the COVID-19 crisis, this analysis focuses on case studies of European citizens living in the United Kingdom. It is based on a series of accounts that address two issues in particular: access to social security and the impossibility of returning to their country of residence.

Restoring the free movement of people in the Union

08/06/2020
After 3 months of lock-down and restriction of movement of European populations due to the coronavirus pandemic, the internal borders within the Union are expected to be almost completely reopened, travel allowed again and the flow of goods re-established. Freedom of movement, one of the cornerstones of the Union's functioning, has been severely disrupted by the virus and the decision of governments to restrict normal business activities to the greatest extent possible. Its full restoration carries major economic stakes. It will also be an indicator of the strength of EU law and rules after an unprecedented crisis.

Which kind of supply chain for Europe?

02/06/2020
The world of raw materials is ultimately one that is not very much in the media spotlight. It enriches some, impoverishes others, leaving behind the shadow of the curse whose roots lie in the origins of international trade. It is through this world that an entire continent has been developed; it is also because of it that an entire continent has become enslaved by the resources it contains. All periods of history have proved this to us. Thanks to commodities, we are constantly feeding the machine of the creation of new markets, fed by new products, if not new services, which are ever more demanding in terms of natural resources.
