JD Giuliani and P Joannin, who head the Robert Schuman Foundation, went to Lithuania from July 7 to July 9, 1999. This visit aimed mainly to renew the agreement protocol between the Foundation and the Association Lithuania-France of Kaunas. This association, directed by Mrs Biruté Straksiene, manages the Robert Schuman Centre that the Foundation opened in 1992.

To mark the end of the term of office of the President of the EESC, Oliver Röpke, Pascale Joannin, Director General of the Robert Schuman Foundation, was invited to participate in a conference entitled "From Kyiv to Tirana: Civil Society Shaping Europe’s Future".
