On 25th October 2011 the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, took part in a conference in Kyiv (Ukraine) organised by the National Civil Service Academy on "Relations between the European Union and Ukraine." He spoke on the future of relations between the EU and Ukraine. Mr Jacques Barrot, former Minister, member of the Foundation`s administrative board, member of the Constitutional Council and former Vice President of the European Commission, spoke on the theme of "Rule of Law, Democracy, Freedom and Justice, the Intangible Values of the European Union".

On 25th october the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani travelled to Kyiv, Ukraine. A conference on "The Relations between the EU and Ukraine" took place at the National Civil Service Academy. Mr Philippe de Surmain, former Ambassador to France in Ukraine and member of the Robert Schuman Foundation's Scientific Commitee and Yuri Kovbasyuk, the Academy's director, inaugurated the conference. Jean-Dominique Giuliani spoke on the future of relations between the EU and Ukraine. Mr Jacques Barrot, former Minister, member of the Foundation's board, member of the Constitutional Council and former Vice-President of the European Commission spoke on the theme of "The Rule of Law, Democracy, Freedom and Justice, the intangible values of the European Union".

The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies organises an open lecture by Jean-Dominique Giuliani, President of the Robert Schuman Foundation.

The lecture, titled “Democratic Resilience in Europe in Times of Polarisation,” is organized in cooperation with the French Embassy in Tallinn and the Institut français d’Estonie, as part of the French Week in Tartu. The event opened by Ms. Sophie Coumel, Director of the Institut français and Cultural Counsellor, and  moderated by Dr. Stefano Braghiroli, Associate Professor of European Studies at our institute, .marks the concluding activity of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “REPAIR - Rejuvenating Democracy in the EU”, led by the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies and supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme.
