Facts against fears - How to address populism?

The Embassies of France and Germany in cooperation with the European Commission in Sweden invite you to a seminar on the latest trends and challenges posed by the surge of populist movements to European democracies and societies. Jean-Dominique Giuliani will attend the round table dedicated to the impact of populism on the political landscape in Europe. With the help of renowned experts from Germany, France, the EU and from Sweden we aim to sharpen perspectives in order to better identify the root-causes for populism and to be able to formulate strategies for political and social players and media on how to deal with changing expectations voiced by parts of the public in our countries. This debate affects the European Union as a whole, as most of the populist movements voice a skeptical view towards the EU. The seminar aims at contributing to a discussion which is necessary at a time when values and achievements of our democratic societies are increasingly challenged from inside and outside.
