Alliances and Unity in Europe. Threats and perspectives
European Union - 15/06/2022
In the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Polish Institute In.Europa is organising on 15 June, at the initiative of the Foundation and in cooperation with the French Embassy in Poland, a seminar on the theme of European sovereignty in matters of security and defence in a new geopolitical context following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

One of the main priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU is to build a more sovereign Europe by:
• strengthening the Schengen area and protecting European borders;
• managing migrations and improving the asylum policy, in line with Europe's values and its international commitments;
• building a stronger Europe which is more capable of action in the fields of security and defence;
• taking action for the prosperity and stability of its neighbours, particularly through its engagement in the Western Balkans and its renewed relationship with Africa;
• bringing forth solutions to global challenges.
Since February 2022, and the Russian attack on Ukraine, the EU faces new security challenges: what are the current threat perceptions for the EU? How can Europe address this new geopolitical reality?
