The contemporary challenges posed by conflicts, technological advances and the rise of artificial intelligence raise fundamental questions regarding ethics, freedom and respect for human dignity. Given the rise of authoritarian regimes and the erosion of fundamental rights, the protection of the individual has emerged as a central challenge for modern democracies. In this context, European values based on human rights, the rule of law and individual freedom represent both an achievement to be preserved and a commitment to be strengthened.
